Roanoke, VA-Minnie May Vass, 93, formerly of Hollywood, WV, passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015, at the home of her daughter in Roanoke, Virginia.
She was born Oct. 17, 1922, at Millpoint, WV, a daughter of the late Solomon Nicholas West and Lena Withrow West.
Minnie was a member of Bruffeys Memorial United Methodist Church of Hollywood, and was retired from the Andrew S. Rowan Home at Sweet Springs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; sister Lettie McFall; and brother, Forest West.
She is survived by: daughters, Eleanor Ash (Robert) of Union, Bonnie Dickerson (Shelby) of Roanoke, VA and Charlotte Bland Cox of Clemons, NC; sons, Dale Bland of Hollywood, and Wilson Bland (Carol) of Lewisburg; sister, Barbara Pezzanite of Suwanee, GA; and brother, Cecil R. West of Columbus, GA; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 29, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg, where Pastor Donald Trent officiated. Interment followed in Ketron Cemetery at Ronceverte.
The family received friends Wednesday evening, Oct. 28, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
