Margarette Virginia Blackburn Dean

White Sulphur Springs-Margarette Virginia Blackburn Dean, 95, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015, at Greenbrier Manor Nursing Home.

Margarette was born June 10, 1920, at Little Italy, Randolph County, WV, and was the last surviving child of the late Charles Howard Mallo Blackburn and Annie Grace Mullenix Blackburn.

She was a retired dispatcher for the White Sulphur Springs Taxi Service for over 30 years, was an active member of Neola Baptist Church, a member of the Women’s Christian Club, the Ladies Auxiliary VFW, Senior Friends, and cooked for anyone she heard was sick in the community.

She loved her family, loved to travel and was a loving and caring Grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harmon Dean; two sons, Kenneth Dean and Maxie Dean; sisters, Edith, Genevieve and Josephine; and brother, Carlston.

Survivors include: two daughters, Helen Waid (Raymond) of Alvon, and Judy Young (Edwin) of Neola; son, Jack Dean (Sharon) of Alvon; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Neola Baptist Church, where Pastor Ralph Hubbard officiated. Interment followed in the Alvon United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family received friends Wednesday evening, Oct. 28, at Neola Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to the Neola Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, 16518 Pocahontas Trail, White Sulphur Springs, WV 24986.
