The Greenbrier East Wrestling Banquet was a huge success. Thank you to all the loyal supporters of the Wrestling program for making it such a Great event. The WVSOM Alumni Center room was packed with Greatness and many future success stories. I often say, “You can’t have Great memories without Great moments.” Well, there were a lot of Great memories created that evening. It was FUN! A lot of awards were presented and highlights acknowledged. As a Team there were too many record-breaking accomplishments to mention in a 400-word article.
“The Most Outstanding Wrestler” award went to 2X State Place-Winner Jasiel Kinder. Our “Most Valuable Wrestler” award went to Evan Roberts, Josiah Solak and Jasiel Kinder. The Sammie Henson ‘Consistency Wins!” award went to Evan Roberts. Adam Zimmerman won the Joe Sampson “Courage Award.” Ethan Asbury was our “Rookie of the Year” while Levi Hobbs, Logan Evans and Jacob Hefner won the “Courage to Succeed” awards. Sheldon Simmons repeated by winning the “Most Class” award. One of our most prestigious awards, the “Ethan Alderman Unending Loyalty” plaque was given to Fritz Glasser for his phenomenal support of our Wrestling Family. Jasiel Kinder, Adam Zimmerman and Evan Roberts joined the exclusive group called the “Champions Club.” We finished the season with 23 Wrestlers on the roster and 15 of them made the West Virginia All-State Honor roll. VERY PROUD!!
TRIVIA: Adam Zimmerman and his father, Mike Zimmerman, were both Regional Wrestling Champions for Greenbrier East High School. Can you name any other father/son combination of Regional Champions in ANY sport at Greenbrier East High School?
Upcoming events and highlights:
Our Annual Wrestling NCAA Championship party will be held this year at Greenbrier East High School in the Cafeteria. There will be plenty of televisions and room for our activities. (Call Miluk at 1-304-667-7296 if you need more info.)

EGMS UPDATE: Congratulations on a successful season. Their Banquet is at EGMS on Monday, Mar. 23. (I’m pretty sure) Sorry; I goofed on the last date, Sheryl.
MILUK HUMOR: “I had to fire our last Strength Coach… I asked him what his favorite machine was at the Fitness Center. He said Vending,” OUCH!
TRIVIA ANSWER: I don’t know of any other individual father/son Regional Champions. However, if anybody does know, please contact me because that is a tremendous honor.
