By Brian Miluk, GEHS Wrestling Coach

A Big Thank You goes out to ALL the people who made the Coalfield Conference Invitational Wrestling Tournament a huge success this past weekend. This successful event could not have happened without the gracious impact of Sheryl Hulmes. She went up and beyond the call of duty to rearrange schedules and make changes on behalf of our Wrestling program and allow us to use the facilities at EGMS. Also, the leadership of Mr. Robert Mickey, Mr. Jim Rohan, Mr. Ron Magruder and Mr. Bryan Bush raised the standards of running a Wrestling Tournaments everywhere. Great job, guys!! There are also too many names to mention.

So if you were involved, please insert your name in the next sentence. WOW, I love ___________ and can’t thank him/her enough for his/her time, effort and loyalty to Greenbrier East Wrestling.

Enough of the (“same names”) hugging. Let’s get to the results that happened on the mat. The Greenbrier East Wrestling Team finished in 3rd place behind defending 2014 State Champions Independence High School and 2013 State Champions Greenbrier West. The top Place-Winners for the Spartans were Champion Evan Roberts (2X Conference Champion), Josiah Solak (2nd), Logan Evans (2nd), Levi Hobbs (3rd), Jacob Hefner (4th) and Jacob Thomas (4th).

The Greenbrier County Championships were cancelled because of Water problems, Weather problems, Scheduling problems, etc. Now is the time to cheer for BOTH Greenbrier County Wresting Teams as we prepare for the Regional Championships.

A Big Thank You goes out to all of our Sponsors for the Coalfield Conference Invitational Wrestling Tournament. Your Kindness and Support is greatly appreciated!!! Again, we are truly blessed by the amazing people in this community. Greatness is all around us. We will give name recognition to all of them next week.

TRIVIA: Evan Roberts leads the Wrestling Team with 33 pins this year. Can you name the Wrestler who finished last season with the most pins?

Upcoming events and highlights:

We will be heading to Woodrow Wilson High School for the Regional Championships on Feb. 21. Wrestling will begin at 10 a.m. and the top 4 Place-Winners at each weight class will qualify for the State Championships in Huntington the following weekend.

Follow us on Twitter @CoachMiluk and our Facebook page Greenbrier East Spartan Wrestling.

EGMS UPDATE: The West Virginia Jr. State Championships are Mar. 7, 8 in Parkersburg. We have quite a few EGMS Wrestlers training for the “Big Event.”

MILUK HUMOR: “There are 3 types of people. Those that can count and those that can’t.” Ha!

TRIVIA ANSWER: The Wrestler with the most pins last year was Keagan Mickey with 28 pins.
