We are the REGIONAL CHAMPIONS!

Wow! What a great tournament. We broke the school records for most points scored, most Finalists, most State Qualifiers, most Champions and many more school records. It was Fun. All 14 of our Wrestlers placed at the Regionals. Our CHAMPIONS were Cayden Hoover (113), Andre Escobedo (132), Jacob Hefner (152) and Jacob Thomas (182). Our Runner-Up finishers were Zach Mullins (120), Logan Evans (138), Levi Hobbs (145), Leslie Campbell (170) and Aaron Davis (220). Rounding out our other State Qualifiers were 3rd. Place winners Cameron Zobrist (106), Waymon Browning (126), Ethan Asbury (195) and Zach Enox (Hvy). Owen Quinn finished in 5th. Place and was a State alternate. The team has been working hard and preparing for these moments. Now, it is off to the State Championships, where we will continue to DREAM ON!

Just a reminder: You don’t just wake up on the top of the podium. It takes a lot of hard work, dedication, sacrifice and discipline. So, at this time, I would like to thank all the people involved that helped make our Regional Championship a reality. At least now, when we wake up, we can say that we are REGIONAL CHAMPIONS!

TRIVIA: In the history of Greenbrier East wrestling, there has never been a wrestler honored at “Senior Night” in college. This past weekend it happened. Can you name the wrestler with such an honor?

Upcoming events and highlights:

We will be at the State Wrestling Championships in Huntington on Thursday through Saturday. Check WVMAT.com for times, results and updates. Also, follow us on Twitter @CoachMiluk

There was agreat video on WOAY Sports. Thank you for the recognition. Also, a big Thank You to Jeff Campbell and Mr. Canterbury who had me on their radio programs. It is nice to see our wrestlers get the recognition in their own community.

SAVE THE DATE: State Wrestling Championships are February 23-25 in Huntington.

E.G.M.S. UPDATE: Looking forward to seeing some our incoming freshman at the State Tournament next year.

Eastern Greenbrier Wrestling Club: There was a tremendous article on Dr. Fisher and the Eastern Greenbrier Wrestling Club in the Register-Herald on Wednesday, Feb. 22nd. Get a copy. It shows the love that he has for the sport and his wrestlers. Update: Our Conference Champions were James Godby, Kaden Stone and Micah Fisher. Congrats!

MILUK HUMOR: Today a man knocked on my door and asked for a small donation towards the local swimming pool. I gave him a glass of water. Ha-ha!

TRIVIA ANSWER: The wrestler honored at “Senior Night” at Alderson Broadus College was Davis Solak. He has wrestled for AB for four years and was a founding member of the wrestling program. That’s what I call loyalty and perseverance. If I owned a company, I would hire him today. Those are qualities of success.
