This will be my last Miluk’s Mat-ters article for this wrestling season.

I will hopefully submit articles periodically throughout the spring and summer about wrestling camps, clinics, highlights, results and other tidbits. Speaking of wrestling clinics, we had Olympian Jared Frayer in our wrestling room on Monday. He is truly the real deal. Total class! He teaches and preaches a “way of life.” A big thank you to all the people that made this possible. Also, I am so proud of all the wrestlers who took time away from their spring break to become better people and wrestlers. I just realized that we have had state champions, national champions, Olympians, NCAA coaches, Hall of Famers and successful people throughout the world in our wrestling room helping our wrestlers become better people. It’s not a coincidence that we are back to back regional champions, getting ALL of our seniors accepted to colleges and improving at the state tournament EVERY year. There is greatness all around this beautiful Greenbrier Valley area! I firmly believe that anyone that joins our wrestling team/family becomes a better person because of coaches like Lou Withrow, Mark Solak, Tracy Asbury, Andy Evans and Billy Thomas. Go Spartans!

Trivia: The Greenbrier East Wrestling team has won 11 Regional Championships (counting the Team Championships) in the past two years. How long did it take to win their first 11 Regional Championships?

Upcoming events and highlights: The Back to Back Regional Wrestling Championship team will be recognized and honored at the Greenbrier County Board of Education on Tuesday, Apr. 10, at 7 p.m. We appreciate their support and kindness.

E.G.M.S. update: Congratulations to Coach Heath and Brad Blevins for winning a Jr. State Championship. Please see Coach Miluk regarding our summer programs.

Eastern Greenbrier Wrestling Club: The Greenbrier Valley Wrestling Club is a Great opportunity to become better. See Coach Tincher, Miluk or Godby about this opportunity. Get Involved!

Thank you to all the loyal fans who helped with our ‘Adopt a Wrestler’ program. It helped so many of our Wrestlers. Thanks!

Miluk humor: My wife is always wearing my T-shirts and sweaters… But if I wear one of her dresses, suddenly “we need to talk!” Ha!

Trivia answer: Greenbrier East’s first Regional Wrestling Champion was Ronnie Eggleston in 1969 and their 11th Regional Champion was Thomas Godby in 2008.
