Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) released the following statement on the USPS’ Mail Processing Facility Review of West Virginia’s only Processing and Distribution Center in South Charleston:
“I continue to be concerned about the USPS’ Mail Processing Facility Review of the Charleston Processing and Distribution Center (P&DC) facility – the only of its kind in our state. This potential plan to move jobs and services to a P&DC in Pittsburgh is illogical and would threaten the economy in West Virginia while leaving the state’s dedicated postal delivery workers uncertain about their job security and commutes. Our state is full of older Americans in rural areas that rely on the postal service to deliver their life-saving medications and veterans who rely on the postal service to deliver their hard-earned federal benefits. Any policy that would jeopardize the timely delivery of the mail to West Virginians is unacceptable and downright dangerous. I encourage everyone who lives in West Virginia to share your concerns about the proposed changes to our P&DC with the USPS at the www.surveymonkey.com/r/mpfr-charleston-wv. As Charleston’s representative in Congress, I will do everything in my power to ensure that the Charleston Processing and Distribution Center continues to serve West Virginia for years to come,” said Congresswoman Miller.
