Ronceverte-Jerry Christopher “Chris” Evans, 59, passed away Dec. 9, 2023, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 12, 1964, in Montgomery, WV, the son of the late Jack G. and Audrey Kincaid Evans.

Chris was a locomotive engineer with CSX Railroad, having worked with them for 28 years. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Ronceverte and he had attended WV Tech.

Other than his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Jeffrey Evans and Terry Evans.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cindy Sampson Evans; sons,  Justin Martin (Trista) of Ronceverte and Harrison Martin (Hailey) of Waverly, WV; grandson, Jamesin Hurley of Waverly; siblings, Jack Evans, Jr. (Sally) of Faber, VA, Ann E. Blake (Mike) of Deland, FL, Kevin Evans (Maria) of Edgewater, FL, and Jennifer Allen; and his special furbabies, Cooper and Otis.

Funeral services for Chris will be Saturday Dec. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Pastor Mark Shafer officiating. Interment will follow in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg. The family will receive family and friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Chris’ love of children and in some way to make it better for the children it seems appropriate that in  lieu of flowers memorial contributions should be made in his memory to either: The Children’s Home Society, 9579 Seneca Trail South, Lewisburg, WV 24901 or to the Ronceverte Lions Club Youth Basketball Program, 212 Monroe Avenue, Ronceverte, WV 24970.

Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg is in charge of arrangements. Please send online condolences by visiting www.WallaceandWallaceFH.com.
