Michael was born Aug. 22, 1969, in Beckley, WV to Bill and Barbara McClintic. His dad worked for N & W Coal and Ore Traffic in Beckley.
He passed away May 30, 2026, at the VCU Hospital in Richmond, VA. Most of his life, he was involved in firearms training in WV.
Mike had an extraordinary memory and love of history. He enjoyed solving problems, reading, writing, music and talking with his friends.
He believed man’s greatest quality was his dignity. He judged no one, seeing only the good.
When Mike gets to Heaven, he will be looking for Stan Sweet, Art Benshoff, and Louis Awerbuck.
He loved his friends and called them often to assure himself that they were well. Among them are Joe Hayes, Jim Maddock, Mike Blum, and Bill Snyder.
When Mike’s dad was fighting esophageal cancer, he moved to Roanoke to help care for him. He took him on many wonderful trips. He drove to Knoxville, TN, Mt. Airy, NC, Churchill Downs and the Columbus Zoo.
Later, after his dad passed away, Mike’s mother began having health problems. He became her sole caregiver.
Whenever she was in the hospital, she would awake at 5 a.m. and Mike would be standing there every day.
When she went home, he saw to it that all her medication was taken on time, cooked wonderful meals, and gave her a strong arm to hold to help her walk when they went out.
Whatever she was facing – leukemia, Parkinson’s, a brain tumor, a-fib – he was always there for her.
Mike gave all that he could give for as long as he could, never complaining or asking for anything in return.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his mother, Barbara McClintic, his uncle Stephen McClintic Sr. of Roanoke, VA and numerous cousins.
He requested that he be cremated and be returned to Greenbrier County, WV.
