Medals and ribbons earned by Special Olympics athletes

Athletes from Greenbrier County Special Olympics attended the West Virginia Special Olympics Summer Games in Charleston in early June. They participated in track and field events, baggo (corn hole) and tennis. With lots of practice and determination, they proudly represented Greenbrier County and brought home medals and ribbons. Here are their results:
• 25 Meter Walk – Trisha Baynard, gold medal; Josie Sams, gold medal; Suzanna Berger, silver medal; Johnna Miller, bronze medal
• 50 Meter Walk – Johnna Miller, gold medal; Trisha Baynard, silver medal; Suzanna Berger, silver medal; Josie Sams, silver medal
• 100 Meter Run – Joseph Canterbury, bronze medal; Wesley Mummert, bronze medal; Brian Luchsinger, 4th place ribbon
• 200 Meter Run – Wesley Mummert, gold medal; Joseph Canterbury, bronze medal; Brian Luchsinger, 4th place ribbon
• Shotput – Joseph Canterbury, 5th place ribbon; Brian Luchsinger, gold medal; Wesley Mummert, gold medal
• Softball Throw – Trisha Baynard, gold medal; Josie Sams, silver medal; Suzanna Berger, bronze medal; Johnna Miller, bronze medal
• Baggo (Corn Hole) – Singles: Stacey Brinson, gold medal; Doug Gallaher, gold medal; Travis Schutzmann, gold medal; Anna VanMeter, gold medal; Jefferson Fraley, silver medal; Michael Kashola, silver medal; Shane VanMeter, silver medal; Greg Twohig, bronze medal
• Baggo (Corn Hole) – Doubles: Stacey Brinson and Shane VanMeter, gold medals; Michael Kashola and Greg Twohig, gold medals; Jefferson Fraley and Travis Schutzmann, gold medals; Dough Gallaher and Anna VanMeter, gold medals
• Tennis – Singles: Gabriel Snow, gold medal; Tiffany Brewster, silver medal
• Tennis – Doubles: Tiffany Brewster, gold medal; Brad Burns, participation ribbon; Gabriel Snow, participation ribbon
• Tennis – Skills: Tiffany Brewster, silver medal; Gabriel Snow, silver medal; Brad Burns, bronze medal.
Coaches were: John R. Miller, Jr. and Rebecca Canterbury for track and field, Patrick Walker for baggo, and Heather Humphreys for tennis.
