White Sulphur Springs-Maxine M. Crump, 74, passed away Friday, Apr. 18, 2014, at her residence.

Born Nov. 28, 1939, in White Sulphur Springs, she was a daughter of the late John Mayo and Nannie Cousins.

Maxine was a member of the First Baptist Church in White Sulphur Springs and was retired from The Greenbrier after 50 years service. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and her game boy and I-pad. Maxine was a mother to the whole community and will be dearly missed.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Crump; children, Lamont Crump and Melanie Crump; and brothers, Clyde, Samuel and Freddie Mayo.

She is survived by: son, Dana Crump; siblings, Larry Cousins (Hazel), Nannie Johnson (Jay) and Alice Mayo; grandchildren, Brandon, Dania, Jordan and Kara; adopted grandchildren, Carol, Isabella, India and Amya; and great-grandchild, Nikara. She is also survived by her deceased brother’s wives, Bun and Mary Catherine; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services for Maxine will be conducted Friday, Apr. 25 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 10 Church Street, White Sulphur Springs.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, is serving the family.
