Mary Reed Schoumacher passed away at home Sunday, June 28, 2020. She was 86 years old.

She was born to Herman and Mary L. Reed on Dec. 15, 1933. Mary graduated from Greenbrier high School and Concord College. She enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a band director, elementary school music teacher, and a Language Arts teacher in the Greenbrier County School system. She retired from teaching in August of 1988.

Mary was a member of the Lewisburg United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, word puzzles, and spending time with her family. She was a lifetime member of the West Virginia Association of Retired School Employees.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Fred Humphreys of Covington, VA, and her grandson, Daniel Humphreys.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Robert C. Byrd Clinic, Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Home Care Plus, and Greenbrier Ambulance Service. The compassionate care she was given is greatly appreciated.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday, June 30 at Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg.

The family suggests any expressions of sympathy be directed to the Lewisburg United Methodist Church.

McCraw Funeral Home in Lewisburg was in charge of arrangements.
