Alderson-Mary Grace Mace Hanna, 92, passed away Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020, at the Brier Nursing Center in Ronceverte.

She was born Apr. 10, 1928, at Linwood, WV, a daughter of the late George Ligon Mace, Jr. and Bessie Clarice Jackson Mace.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She was a retired cook from the Big Wheel Restaurant in Alderson and attended the Grace Bible Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Hanna in 1994; granddaughter, Brittany Hanna; eight brothers, Luther, George, Clyde, Willie, Johnny, Julian, Lewis and Dale Mace; and seven sisters, Daisy Hayslette, Susie Wade, Goldie Armstrong, Annie Bowers, Brownie Mace, Betty Armstrong and Evelyn Turner.

She is survived by daughter, Barbara Kay Dowdy and husband Bobby of Alderson; seven sons, Gene “Butch” Hanna and wife Dee of Charles Town, Hilbert “Chuck” Hanna and wife Judy of Nettie, Doug Hanna and wife Carol of Stuart, FL, Michael Hanna of Pompano Beach, FL, Patrick Hanna and wife Angie of White Sulphur Springs, Jeffrey Hanna and wife Julie of Alderson, William Hanna and wife Donna of Alderson; stepson, Joseph Hanna and wife Claire of Covington, VA; stepdaughter, Betty Hooper of North Carolina; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins that she loved so much. Mary loved her family and friends greatly.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg, with Pastor Gary Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens in Lewisburg.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon until time of the funeral on Thursday.

The family would like to thank the many caretakers at the Brier for the wonderful and loving care she received during her stay at the Brier.

We will follow guidelines associated with covid-19 and social distancing is encouraged.
