Marlin Lee Shamblin

Sidney, OH-Marlin Lee Shamblin, 80, passed away at his residence Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, at 5:04 a.m. from end stage dementia.

He was born July 5, 1938, in St. Albans, the son of the late Rev. Holly O.  and Claris M. (Gray) Shamblin.

A brother, Darrell Shamblin is deceased.

He was married to Brenda Kiser on Dec. 25, 1960, and she survives along with two sons, Broaddus Wade Shamblin and wife Melissa of Sidney, OH and M. Lee Shamblin and wife Christine of Gahanna, OH and nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are brother, Donald Shamblin and wife Marlis of Racine, WI; and sister, Geraldine Kincade of Indianapolis, IN.

He had a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Marshall College, Huntington, and a Master’s Degree in Education from La Universidad Veracruzana in Xaplapa, Mexico. He was a teacher at Sidney High School for 29 years retiring in 1992. He was a member of the NEA, OEA and SEA education associations and the White Pilgrim United Methodist Church in Wallback, WV, where he was a trustee of the church. He was also a member of the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War.

Visitation was at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney, OH, Thursday evening, Aug. 23.

Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 24, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Church in Wallback, with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Wallback.

Memorial contributions may be made to White Pilgrim United Methodist Church, Wallback, WV, or Miami County Hospice.    Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed to the Shamblin family on Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home’s web site at:   www.salm-mcgillandtangemanfh.com.
