Lewisburg – Maria del Carmen Withrow, 87, passed away Thursday, Apr. 5, 2018, at Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea.
Carmen was born Sept. 10, 1930, in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico and was a daughter of the late Gregorio Yanez Gonzalez and Eva Gonzalez Monroy.
She was a devoted and loving mother, wife and homemaker. She was of the Catholic faith being a member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and the ladies auxiliary of The Knights of Columbus.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Belen Perez Yanez.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Lonnie Lee Withrow; daughters, Guadalupe Yanez of Mexico and Mary S. Vigueras of West Virginia and North Carolina; son, Louis A. Withrow of Lewisburg; sisters, Teresa Yanez Gonzalez, Ines Yanez Gonzalez, Francisca Yanez Gonzalez, Lucia Yanez Gonzalez, Irma Yanez Gonzalez and Maria de Jesus Yanez Gonzalez all of Mexico; brothers, Pedro Yanez Gonzalez, Leopoldo Yanez Gonzalez and Andres Yanez Gonzalez all of Mexico; grandchildren, Courtney R. Withrow, Christin R. Withrow, Charles R. Withrow, Judith Maria Del Carmen Perez Yanez, Maria Del Rosario-Perez Yanez, Israel Perez Yanez, Maria Lourdes Gabriela Perez Yanez, Emmanuel Perez Yanez and Monserrat Vigueras Mendoza; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A funeral mass was conducted on Tuesday, Apr. 10, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in White Sulphur Springs, where Father Jim Conyers officiated. Burial was in Rosewood Cemetery in Lewisburg.
The family received friends Monday evening, Apr. 9, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Rosary was recited at 7:30.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Carmen’s memory be made to Peyton Hospice House, 1265 Maplewood Ave, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
