Margaret A. “Peggy” Kenney, 72, of Rainelle went to be with the Lord on Monday, Apr. 13, 2026 at her home surrounded by family.

She was born on Apr. 23, 1953 in Waterville, Maine; the daughter of the late Robert George McGowan and Alma Mae (nee Ward) McGowan. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her former husband, John Letts.

She was a faithful prayer warrior for her family and friends, though she wasn’t always able to keep in touch with everyone they were always on her mind and in her prayers. Above all, she would want you to know the Lord. She believed deeply in the love and saving grace of Jesus Christ that He came, died for our sins and rose again so that we might have eternal life with Him. Her greatest hope is that others would come to know Him and experience that same peace and assurance.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Pastor Bennie L. Kenney; daughters Melissa Kinney (Andy), Cassandra Finkes (Ben), Karan Simone (Tim, Sr.) step daughter Angie Davidson (Jonathan); step son Thomas Letts (Amy); sisters Sue Jacobs and Sally Rasmussen; brother Robert G. McGowan, II; stepmother Sally Anne (nee Osborne) McGowan; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Aiden, Connor, Sadie, Chloe, Ryleigh, Wyatt, Aliyah, Timothy, Jr., Zeke, Elisha, Annanoelle, Faith, Jordon, Dominic, Serenity, Phoenyx, Cody, Branson, Sadie and Chloe Lou Lou and a host of extended family and friends.

At her request, she will be cremated. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Apr. 18, at McRoss Baptist Church.
