On Tuesday, Dec. 31, at approximately 8 a.m., troopers were dispatched to an area on Monroe Draft near Caldwell after receiving reports of a gunshot wound. Troopers arrived on scene to find an adult male subject lying face down in the driveway. He was flown to an area trauma center.
Leads have been developed and a person of interest has been taken into custody and questioned. As of press time, no arrests have been made.
The investigation is still ongoing. Trooper J.L. Tincher is the investigating officer. Assistance was provided by the Lewisburg Detachment of the West Virginia State Police, the White Sulphur Springs Police Department, and the Ronceverte Police Department.
