On Nov. 2, Main Street White Sulphur Springs hosted its first annual Wild Game Cook-off competition. Contestants brought their best wild game recipes and competed for a shotgun provided by Mountaineer Guns in White Sulphur Springs.

The winners were as follows: 1st place: Ty Vaughan, bear stew, 2nd place: Adam Sydenstricker, duck chili, 3rd place: Shirley Fury and John Burns, deer ribs, People’s Choice: Jamie Tingler, deer tenderloin and biscuits.

In addition to the contestants, several vendors set up stations including The Ducks Unlimited Greenbrier River Valley Chapter, Messages for Hope, and the Neighborhood Group, among others. The Half Bad Bluegrass Band also provided live live musical entertainment for the afternoon.

Main Street will use the funds raised for various community service and business support projects throughout the upcoming year. We send a special thanks to all of the contestants, vendors, and guests, especially to Gillespie’s Flowers for the event setup, Mountaineer Guns and Kate’s Mountain Outfitters for their help with the prizes, and 50 East Casual Dining & Spirits for hosting and sponsoring the event.
