Come on over to the Old Mill Park (Gazebo) next to the Post Office this Sunday, Aug. 30 from 2 to 4 p.m., for an afternoon of summer lawn music and fun on Main Street, US Route 60, downtown White Sulphur Springs.
This is our final Sunday of music in the park for the summer. The performances are underwritten by Main Street White Sulphur Springs. The performance is free of charge, with cold drinks supplied. Your job is to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and some family and friends. It’s all free!
This Sunday the community concert sponsor is the Old White Garden Club of White Sulphur Springs. Come over and meet some neighbors of yours who contribute their time and effort to keep our community moving forward.
There is a very special performance this week. Featured will be two ladies creating gentle and wistful music with harps and cellos. At 2 p.m., Leah Trent will present an hour of varied music, from classical to Appalachian Americana on her harp. Many of you will know Leah from her work and performances at Carnegie Hall, where she is the Education Director, as well as at many other regional county settings from Greenbrier, Monroe, Pocahontas and Summer. She has performed at the Greenbrier resort, as well as locations in Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Oklahoma and both Virginias. Come see and hear a very special neighbor of yours!
At 3 p.m., Robin Wright from Monroe County will join Doug Blankenship. With her cello and his guitar, you will see and hear a woven mixture of gentle vocal harmonies and seductive sounds. You can expect to hear a collection of folk, country, pop, gospel and grass!
The main goal of the summer music series is to get people out and about in the village, and be in the company of other neighbors and friends, while enjoying local music performers. At the same time, the sponsoring cohost organization will be identified and their members will be there to say hello. It is a way to get to know some of the people and businesses that serve our community.
