The Main Street Ronceverte program is hosting the annual “Make It Shine” program Saturday, Apr. 12 from 8 a.m. to noon in downtown Ronceverte. Those wanting to help with the cleanup are asked to meet at the Marie Leist Room of the City Hall to pick up gloves, bags and tools. “We hope everyone will take this opportunity to clean up their property, as well as come help with the cleaning of the downtown,” commented Mayor David Smith. “We encourage everyone to bring their brooms and shovels and help make the downtown shine!”

The city has held these annual cleanups since May 12, 1913, when Mayor J. M. Miller was requested to make a proclamation declaring a “Clean Up” Week within the town. Since then the ladies of the Mutual Improvement Club and the Ronceverte Woman’s Club have helped spearhead this effort every year and now, along with Main Street Ronceverte, come together to ready the community for the spring.

“We appreciate all our volunteers who come together each year to help the town get a jump on the cleanup of the gravel and debris from the long winter we have just experienced,” continues Mayor Smith. “This is a good way to get out in the nice spring weather and make a difference in our community.”

For more information about the cleanup, contact the Main Street Office at 304-647-3140.
