White Sulphur Springs-Madge Elaine Shawver Spencer, 62, died Saturday, Mar. 21, 2015, at the White Sulphur Springs Family Care Center after an extended illness.

Born Feb. 22, 1953, in Fayetteville, she was a daughter of the late Edward Lee and Jacqueline Ruth Whitten Shawver.

Madge was a 1971 graduate of Greenbrier East High School. While her health permitted her to work, she was an assistant manager of a convenience store. She was of the Protestant faith. She loved gardening and working with flowers. Madge also enjoyed crocheting and watching the birds, especially hummingbirds.

Preceding her in death, other than her parents, was her husband, Stanley “Bean” Spencer, Jr.

Survivors include: two sons, Steve Ray Spencer and Ernie Spencer both of White Sulphur Springs; brother, Donald Shawver (Hilda) of White Sulphur Springs; half-brother, Matt Shawver of Raleigh, NC; and half-sister, Kelly Shawver Kesden of Sanford, FL.

At her request there will be no visitation or service. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, is serving the family.
