<strong><img class="size-full wp-image-32725 alignleft" src="https:\/\/mountainmedianews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2018\/05\/TOLBERT.LORENE-obit.jpg" alt="" width="127" height="224" \/>Lewisburg\u00a0<\/strong>- Lorene Tolbert, 94, died Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at the home of her daughter in Lewisburg.\r\n\r\nShe was born in Lynch, Kentucky, on July 4, 1923, to Earl McGrady and Eura Rivers McGrady. They later moved to Beckley, where she met her life-long partner and husband, John.\r\n\r\nAs a young woman she worked at Penny\u2019s Department Store doing alterations. She developed her own business making custom draperies and slipcovers while maintaining her home and caring for her family. Her hands were always busy making beautiful things which she sold at Tamarack and Pipestem State Park.\r\n\r\nShe was a member of the Oak Grove Christian Church in Crab Orchard, and previously a member of the First Christian Church in Beckley. She attended the Ronceverte Christian Church after moving to Lewisburg in 2010.\r\n\r\nIn addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Earl Tolbert; her brothers, Raymond McGrady, Earl McGrady, Bill McGrady and Tom McGrady; and an older sister, Ruby Edith who died as a baby.\r\n\r\nSurvivors include a son, Douglas Earl Tolbert and wife Pat Samargo of Sinks Grove; a daughter, Donna Jean Tolbert of Lewisburg, and a grandson, John Zachary Tolbert of Austin, TX.\r\n\r\nServices will be held Saturday May 12, at Oak Grove Christian Church, Crab Orchard. Friends may call at 2 p.m., the eulogy will be officiated by William Calhoun at 3 p.m., followed by burial in the Oak Grove Cemetery.\r\n\r\nThe family would like to thank the staff of Kanawha Hospice Care, Greenbrier Division for all their work and support during the past few months.
