On Saturday, Oct. 5, Greenbrier County citizens who are registered to vote in Precincts 45 and 46 will cast their ballots at the Cafeteria of the old Lewisburg Elementary School on Lee Street – now the Lee Street Campus of New River Community & Technical College. The change in polling place for these precincts is for this election only due to a scheduling conflict at the regular polling place, Lewisburg United Methodist Church.

In an effort to inform the public about the Oct. 5 special school levy election, Greenbrier County Schools with host two informational forums. The first forum will be held Monday, Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. at the Rainelle Fire Station in Rainelle. A second forum will be held Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 6 p.m. at the Roland P. Sharp Alumni Center on the campus of WVSOM in Lewisburg.

The Greenbrier County Board of Education has approved a levy call to be placed before the voters on Saturday, Oct. 5. Continuation of the levy, which must be authorized by the voters every five years, provides funding for continuation of a number of educational services to Greenbrier County students.

The October levy proposal requests authorization to continue additional levies from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2019 to provide funding for: School safety and security including but not limited to security services, equipment and related support services for students; Instructional materials, technology and resources; Continuation of art and music programs available to all students;  School allotments and supplies, including lab supplies.
