This year’s sports-themed children’s summer reading program “On Your Mark, Get Set, READ!” is quickly approaching, and the White Sulphur Springs Library is ready to jump right into fun. Activities will include an egg drop engineering activity; various games such as “Pin the Hair on Elvis” and “Please, Mr. Crocodile.” Children will participate in creating unique crafts such as designing sports pennants, decorating a sports visor, water color, and more. The children will also have the opportunity to join us in a special trip at the end of the program to visit the White Sulphur Springs Fish Hatchery.
Businesses have donated coupons and other incentives to be “raffled” to the children in attendance each week of the program. April’s Pizzeria gave 21 free kids’ meal coupons and Wendy’s gave several coupons including free french fries and free kids’ meals. Be Sweet is donating coupons for free cupcakes to weekly winners. These donations will be given away to the children in the program, either in take-home goodie bags or as prizes.
Also, Dream Weaver Activity Center donated $10 towards the cost of activities, snacks, and the end-of-program field trip.
The program, open to children ages two through eleven, will be held every Tuesday at the White Sulphur Springs Public Library, June 14 through July 12, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with a special trip on July 19. For further information, call the library at 304-536-1171.
