On Apr. 25, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., the West Virginia Writers, Inc. Region 3 will present Lions and Authors and Books…Oh My! The one day author extravaganza will feature an interactive environment where shoppers can meet talented writers from their own backyard.

Join us at the Alderson Community Center for this free event where visitors will be greeted on the front lawn with fun activities including Pioneer Games, On-the-Spot Poetry, and an Add-A-line Story.

Inside you will be greeted by friendly faces who will answer questions and give you a map of the authors and activity locations. Wander the tables of authors and ask questions about their work. There is also a scavenger hunt, door prizes and a kids area called the Cub’s Corner where you might run into French the Lion! In the kitchen you can buy a snack or lunch.

Throughout the day, readings and presentations will take place in the library. This cozy corner offers just the right atmosphere for guests to relax and sink into beautiful written landscapes. Shoppers can take a coffee break while they enjoy the entertainment or participate in question/answer sessions.

Stay into the evening when at 6:30 the very talented author Kirk Judd will be performing his poetry to the music of Bob Shank. Their down-to-earth magic is sure to make a poetry lover out of anyone with strong, homegrown Appalachian roots. This captivating duo can be heard on their CD “My People was Music.”

The event is free to the public and is sponsored by Alderson Main Street, the Alderson Lions Club and the VFW Tri-County Memorial Post No. 6723.

The timing is right for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and graduation gift shoppers.

Come and meet your new favorite book and the author who penned its words while exploring the New Alderson. Experience someplace different.
