Linda Wilson Babcock, 87, of Davidson, NC passed away peacefully on Aug. 12, 2026. She was born on Apr. 11, 1939, in Spencer, WV to the late H. Clay and Helen Wilson.
Linda married Edward Monroe Babcock on June 25, 1960, in Charleston WV. Their 47-year marriage and partnership were the foundation of a beautiful family. Edward predeceased her on July 17, 2007.
Linda graduated from Charleston High School in 1957 and attended Marshall University. She spent a large part of her work life in Charleston as a teacher’s assistant at both Oakwood and Kenna elementary schools. She loved working with children and later focused that joy and adoration on her grandchildren, Sara and Carmen. Her beloved grandson Ross Babcock predeceased her. Linda and Ed moved to Lewisburg, WV in 2000. They were active members of Old Stone Presbyterian Church and Linda found opportunities to volunteer at the North House Museum, The Barracks, and Americana Thrift Store. She enjoyed tending her flowers, feeding the hummingbirds, and spending time with family and friends. She was a great baker and cook and was famous for her homemade pies. The years in Lewisburg were notably some of the happiest years of her life.
Linda moved to Davidson, NC in July 2018 and resided at The Pines at Davidson for the remainder of her life. The family would like to thank the staff at The Pines and VIA Health Partners for loving care she received for the last several years of her life.
She is survived by her two children, Lynne S. Babcock of Unionville NC, and Timothy W. Babcock of Huntersville NC, two grandchildren, Sara Whaley of Carmel, IN, and Carmen Babcock of Cornelius, NC, daughter-in-law Janet G. Babcock of Davidson, NC, and Sara’s husband, Tyler Whaley of Carmel, IN.
She was an incredibly special, genuine person, of deep Christian faith, who walked and lived her life in the name of Jesus Christ. She had a gift for cultivating deep meaningful relationships with everyone around her. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She was an extraordinary wife, mother, the very best grandmother, and a loyal treasured friend.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Old Stone Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg, WV. A reception at the church will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dementia and Alzheimer’s research.
