Visions of chocolate-covered bacon and chocolate mousse already are dancing in the head of Jeanne Clemons as she contemplates the Greenbrier County Public Library Chocolate Brunch on Saturday, Apr. 13.

“It’s a great way to start the day for the Chocolate Festival,” Clemons said. The brunch is scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. at the library at 152 Robert W. McCormick Drive. The 13th annual Lewisburg Chocolate Festival begins at 11 a.m., just down the hill from the library in downtown Lewisburg.

Clemons and her family have been library brunch regulars for years. In the past, they’ve helped serve and clean up after the event. That includes children Garrett, Collin, Graham and Carrie, and partner Toney Floyd.

“We’ve loved the library a long time,” Clemons said. “It’s a hidden gem. My kids grew up in the reading program. It’s got a family feeling and you can stay involved.

“The brunch is awesome,” she said. In addition to her favorites, the menu will feature a chocolate muffin, Stuffed Mexican Hot Chocolate French Toast with Cinnamon Whipped Cream and Chocolate-Maple Ganache, as well as hot chocolate and chocolate coffee. (Fruit, regular coffee, hot tea and juice also will be available.)

The event is sponsored by library staff, with the help of the Friends of the Greenbrier County Public Library.

Seating for the brunch is limited. Tickets cost $10 for adults, and $5 for age 10 and younger. Tickets can be bought in advance at the library. Credit cards are accepted. More information is available by calling the library at 304-647-7568.
