Construction has started on a major renovation project to upgrade the main lobby of LewisGale Hospital Alleghany. When it is complete, the modernized lobby will offer patients many enhanced features including: new registration pods for added privacy; a coffee shop complete with cell phone charge stations, high top tables and sofas; and all new fixtures, furniture and flooring.
“We want to thank our patients for their patience as we transform our lobby into a more welcoming and patient-friendly environment,” said Charlotte Tyson, CEO, LewisGale Hospital Alleghany. “We are excited about how this upgrade will enhance the patient and visitor experience from the moment they walk through the hospital’s doors.”
To accommodate the construction, the patient registration area has been temporarily relocated to the adjoining Visitor Lobby, near the gift shop. Patients will find signage and volunteers available to help direct them to them proper location and to assist them with finding alternate routes to the lab, radiology, and physical therapy departments.
As part of the renovation project, the Outpatient Laboratory has also permanently moved across from the Emergency Department.
The upgraded lobby is scheduled to open in late June.
