A Lewisburg woman died in a car wreck on Sunday, Oct. 30. According to a press release from Chief Deputy Bruce Sloan of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office, Kelly Leon Douglas, 26, died after losing control of her vehicle on I-64 near Lewisburg.
Douglas was from the Springfield, VA, area, but was most recently residing in Lewisburg.
“At approximately 3:50 p.m., members of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle traffic accident on Interstate 64 near Lewisburg. Upon arrival on the scene the officers determined that the driver of a west bound passenger car lost control on the bridge near mile marker 174,” the press release said.
“The investigation revealed that the vehicle struck the south side of the bridge and then traveled across the roadway and impacted the bridge on the north side. The vehicle subsequently rolled over on to its top and the driver was partially ejected from the vehicle. The driver would succumb to her injuries at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle was transported to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center and treated for non-life threatening injuries,” the press release said.
The accident was investigated by Deputy J. F. Kelley of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office. Kelley was assisted by Deputy S. W. Hudnall and Sergeant G. R. Workman, also of the sheriff’s office.
