The City of Lewisburg will come together for a community clean-up day on Monday, July 6, in preparation for its America in Bloom evaluation July 8-9. Lewisburg in Bloom committee members and volunteers will be on hand to clean up targeted areas of Lewisburg and finalize beautification efforts for the America in Bloom campaign and contest.
Volunteers are needed and can check in at Lewisburg City Hall from 8 a.m. – noon on Monday. Trash bags will be provided. Groups may select their own locations or help at one of various targeted clean-up sites from 9 a.m. – noon. E-mail sbeatty@lewisburg-wv.com or leave a message at 304-645-2080 if you would like to help. All volunteers who help are invited to attend a reception on Thursday, July 9, from 6:30 until 8 p.m. to meet the America in Bloom judges Linda Cromer and Melanie Riggs.
America in Bloom is a national campaign and contest that fosters community involvement and civic pride. Communities compete in population groups and are evaluated by professionally-trained judges in the following categories: tidiness, urban forestry, floral displays, community involvement, turf and groundcover, landscaping, environment and heritage. Judges will evaluate Lewisburg July 8-9, and the winner will be announced at the America in Bloom Annual Awards Ceremony in Holland, MI, at the American in Bloom Symposium.
