Join the members of the Lewisburg Farmers Market for fun, food, music and a silent auction Friday, Apr. 7 from 5-8 p.m. at the Convention and Visitors Bureau in downtown Lewisburg. Music will be provided by the Strum Sum Band.
Money raised from the silent auction supports several initiatives of the Lewisburg Farmers Market to make locally grown, healthy and organic food available to everyone. This fundraiser, the first of two annual efforts, allows Lewisburg Farmers Market members to accept EBT and SNAP, so low income people and seniors on fixed incomes can benefit from fresh local produce, meat and poultry. The money is also used for advertising to promote a healthy market economy.
This year the silent auction offers gift certificates from local Lewisburg merchants, handmade clothing and handbags, lamb, pork sausage, a “barbecue kit” of apple wood chips and two thick cut pork chops, body care products, an herb pot, and many other items donated by the community and the vendors. Check out an updated list of great items on their Facebook page, Lewisburg Farmers Market.
The event is just days before the Saturday, Apr. 15, opening of the outdoor market in the parking lot of the Lewisburg United Methodist Church from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
