Lena Belle Stanley Ratliff

Alderson-Lena Belle Stanley Ratliff, 100, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at Heartland of Rainelle, following a short illness.
Born Nov. 5, 1912, in Monroe County, she was the daughter of the late William Daniel and Birdie Mitchell Stanley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Fred Ratliff; son, William Howard “Bill” Ratliff; brother, Clarence Stanley; sister, May Eary; two grandsons, Shannon Carter and Dustin Carter; and great-grandson, Colby Fisher.
Mrs. Ratliff was a homemaker and was of the Protestant Faith. She was an avid reader and will always be remembered for making family and friends feel welcome at her home.
Survivors include: two daughters, Norma Gaye Ratliff Carter of Manassas, VA and Alderson and Rebecca Ann Sinclair and husband David of Gorham, IL; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Ratliff’s death leaves many loving nieces, nephews, and numerous extended family members.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 26 at Lobban Funeral Home Chapel, Alderson, where the Rev. Gary Baker officiated.
Burial was in the Fletcher Addition of the Alderson Cemetery, Alderson.
Friends called Saturday, Oct. 26, at the funeral home before the service.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.
For those considering an expression of sympathy, at Mrs. Ratliff’s request, contributions may be made to the Alderson Community Food Pantry.
