The women of the Henning Church of God met June 12 in the church fellowship hall for their monthly meeting. Carole Spencer presided and Cindy Fleshman led in prayer.

Dyan Hefner gave the devotion, “The Doctor Is In,” by Julia Bentoncourt with scripture references Matthew 14:14, Ephesians 4:18, Psalms 139: 13-16, Romans 5:8, and Matthew 11: 28-30. The Lord is our Great Physician and he listens. Sometime we don’t feel like our doctor is listening. The Lord listens and does not break any HIPAA laws. The Lord makes house calls, there is no waiting, and he is knows about our bodies because he created them. He has good bedside manners. He wants and desires a relationship with us. The Great Physician heals more than our body; he can also heal our mind. Jesus healed the tormented and devil possessed man in Luke 8: 26-39. The Great Physician has the right prescription (The Holy Bible) taken every day. We all need preaching, teaching and reading the Bible to make us healthy in every way.

Barb Seldomridge gave the missionary education report. La Tan and Kristen Martinez, missionaries to Honduras, visited southern Honduras where temperatures reach upwards to 103 degrees. This area has frequent drought and the residents are impoverished and are mostly illiterate. Many residents are hostile to the church, however, the word is being spread and many residents walk over two hours just to hear a church service. All missionaries need prayer.

Jamie Harvey gave the treasurer’s report and Pauline Perkins read last month’s minutes.

The group reported sending 141 cards, making 9 visits and 30 phone calls. Carole thanked the group for help with the Yard and Bake Sale, Ruritan dinner, and Bean dinner. All were a success. She reminded the group about Craigsville Camp Meeting June 17-22 and to have items at the church on Sunday morning if anyone wants to donate to the goodie shack.

The project for next month will be the Ruritan dinner on June 28. The next meeting will be held July 10. Bonnie Dodrill gave the closing prayer.

Attending were: August Hefner, Barb Seldomridge, Betty Lou Byers, Bonnie Dodrill, Carole Spencer, Cindy Fleshman, Carol Spencer, Dyan Hefner, Evon Persinger, Jamie Harvey, Joan Vance, Kim Brookman, Marty Burns, Pauline Perkins, Shirley Loudermilk, Rosie Blake, and Marsha Merritt.
