Kathleen “Velette” Brooks

Kathleen “Velette” Brooks, 57, passed away June 9th, 2018, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.

She was born November 18, 1960, in White Sulphur Springs to James and Marie Lafon Brooks of Organ Cave.

Velette was employed at GVMC for 36 years as a Nurse’s Aide. Her passion was caring for others.

She had a heart of gold and will be missed by many. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she would start counting down the days in July. She loved the State Fair. She was of the Pentecostal Faith.

She enjoyed time with her son, Jeremy. They enjoyed going shopping, to movies, and her favorite was bowling together.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby; parents, James and Marie; in-laws, Roy and Bertie Brooks; grandparents, Kathleen and Leonard Lafon and Garnette and Marshall Brooks.

Survivors include her son, Jeremy of Organ Cave; sister, Cynthia (Craig) May of Organ Cave; nephews, Anthony and Cory May; special great niece, Emma May; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation was held Tuesday, June 12th, 2018, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 13th, 2018 at 1:00PM at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Rev Kenny Baker and Pastor James Kite officiating. Burial followed at Salem Cemetery at Organ Cave.

Pallbearers were Andrew Brooks, Anthony May, Cory May, Joey Jones, Jimmy White, Dicky Roberts, and alternate, Craig May.
