Katherine Marie Walker Wickline, 73, of Union, passed after a brief illness, surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Kathy will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She served as the Town Clerk for the Town of Union for 15 years and worked alongside her family running “The Station” until her retirement.
She was the daughter of the late Emmett and Leotta Walker. Kathy understood the meaning of hard work, having grown up in a family of proud dairy farmers. She cherished her childhood and firmly believed that no one works harder than dairy farmers. Kathy had a passion for sports, especially Nascar and College Basketball, and was notably a devoted fan of the Duke Blue Devils. A 1969 graduate of Greenbrier East High School, she was proud to be crowned their first homecoming queen. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, which she framed and displayed throughout her home, and took great pride in landscaping her yard with lights and flowers.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Lee Wickline, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage; her youngest son, Steven Wickline; her sisters Susie Ayers and Nancy Walker; and nephew Donald Ayers. She is survived by her son Shane Wickline (Monica) of Frederick, MD; daughter Shelby Morgan (Robert) of Fairmont, WV; granddaughter Kendel Wickline of Frederick, MD; sister, Martha Cox (Jamie deceased); brothers-in-law, Charles Ayers and Wayne Wickline; nieces and nephews, Carolyn Dolan, Dean Cox, Chris Cox, Elizabeth Wickline, Molly Hoke; and numerous other great nieces, great nephews, and friends.
