A Greenbrier West High School student and JROTC cadet has been named the best in the state by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Amber Clark received a plaque and a $500 scholarship check at a ceremony on Friday, June 3. This is the third year in a row that GWHS has produced the top cadet in the state.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Robert Busick, Senior Army Instructor with the JROTC at GWHS, Clark has been the JROTC for the last three years. This year, she prepared the JROTC battalion for an accreditation inspection.
As a result of her efforts, the battalion was named “Honor Unit with Distinction,” which is the highest possible award. Busick said this was the first time in 21 years the GWHS JROTC earned the award.
