Alderson-Joyce Aileen Smith Harrison, 87, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015, at the Brier Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Ronceverte, following a long illness.

Born Apr. 9, 1928, in Alderson, she was the daughter of the late Arthur McKinley and Elva Aristis Nelson Smith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Issac Harrison; and a sister, Victoria Keys.

Mrs. Harrison was a Licensed Practical Nurse, having retired in 1993 from Brookdale Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, retiring after 43 years of service. She was a 1946 graduate of Bolling High School, Lewisburg, followed by Nursing School, where she graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse. In her free time, she loved to crochet and knit. Mrs. Harrison was of the Methodist Faith, which was extremely important to her, and above all, she loved the Lord.

Survivors left to cherish her memory include: three sisters, Carnelia Saddler of Alderson, Elva Owens of Alderson and Bernice Floyd of Smyrna, TN; three brothers, Arthur Smith and wife Beulah of Las Vegas, NV, Freddy Smith of Vacaville, CA and James Smith of Brasher Falls, NY; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In honor of Mrs. Harrison’s request, she has been cremated and private burial will follow at the Old Greenbrier Memorial Cemetery, Alderson.
