Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT), the State Professional Theatre of West Virginia, will hold local auditions for the family-friendly professional Christmas production Babes in Toyland. Youth auditions will be held on Oct. 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. and adult auditions on Oct. 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. For more information, call GVT’s Box Office at 304-645-3838.
Only students currently enrolled in GVT’s after-school program are eligible to audition. Students should prepare 16-18 bars of a song with sheet music and a speech 30-60 seconds long; nursery rhymes are perfect. Adults should prepare a song, preferably with sheet music. Everyone is asked to bring a list of all scheduling conflicts in November and December.
The theatre encourages everyone with all levels of theatrical experience to audition.
“GVT students and local adult actors will work alongside professionals from all over the country in this fun holiday spectacular,” said director Courtney Susman.
This program is presented with financial assistance from the West Virginia Division of Culture & History, and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts.
