In observance of National Breast Cancer Awareness month Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church in Alderson is hosting a “Think Pink” weekend. A Breast Cancer Walk will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, Oct. 19 beginning at the Town Gazebo. Registration will start at 10 a.m. at the Gazebo. Entry fee is $5 and every walker will receive a goody bag for their support. Walkers are welcome to park in the church parking lot. A hot dog sale and silent auction will be held. In case of inclement weather the walk will be moved to the Alderson Community Center Gym. Don’t forget to wear “Pink.”
On Sunday, Oct. 20, we will conclude “Think Pink” weekend with a worship service beginning at 11 a.m. with Becky Keadle delivering an inspirational message. Immediately following Sunday worship service a soup and sandwich luncheon will be held in the Fellowship Hall at Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church. The cost for the “Think Pink” inspired meal is a donation. Please join us in raising awareness in our community. All proceeds raised will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation in honor of Carolyn Humphrey and Patty Hunter, breast cancer survivors.
Contact persons are Lea Ann Gwinn at 304-445-7846 or Patty Proffitt at 304-445-2544.
