On September 17, 2024, the Eagles and Phillies lost their biggest fan. Johnny Hall was born on March 5, in Frankford Hospital, Philadelphia, PA, to John and Caroline Hall. With his two sisters and one brother, John grew up surrounded by family and loved to have fun and make people laugh.
In 1965, at the age of 19, he enlisted in the Army. The following year, he was sent to Vietnam, where he bravely served until 1968. John remained in the service as a reservist until 1971. This experience affected him for the rest of his life.
John then traveled across the country, landing in West Virginia and making it his permanent home. He married his soulmate, Michelle Burroughs, on May 23, 1997. He had a combined family of Mikki’s three children and his two children from a previous marriage. John always found work with at-risk children especially rewarding, and for years, he worked at Davis Stuart School, where he was always available if needed.
After being diagnosed with COPD, he had to cut back on the job he loved but continued working in food service part-time. When he was diagnosed with an Agent Orange-related illness, he was forced to stay home, but he would get out and help friends who were homebound as long as he could.
He always had a funny story, a silly joke, or would tease his friends ceaselessly. He was a wonderful father, husband, and friend his whole life. He watched the Eagles win their game the night before he died, accompanied by his son Django. John is survived by his wife Mikki and his children Michelle, Lee, Colin, Django, and Asta; his sister Carol Pritz and family; brother Thomas J; and niece Tracy Strumiller. Also, his dear friend Jack Marcus and so many other friends who loved him dearly.
