James Monroe High School’s new women’s golf team concluded its season with a regional match. The charter members of the Lady Mavs are Madison McMillion, Madison Noonkester, Anna Frasher, Katherine Viars, and Kinleigh Bradley. The season concluded with a match against other women’s teams in Region III. The team members are all new to the sport, so results were mixed this year. A solid foundation for next year is in place, however!
The Region III women’s match took place at Twin Falls State Park on Sept. 19. The event was the first of its kind, as Region III has not traditionally had women’s teams. Players from the Lady Mavs included Madison McMillion, Madison Noonkester, Anna Frasher, and Kinleigh Bradley.
The new team appreciates the outpouring of support from our community. This included purchase of team polo shirts by Betsy Noonkester, donations of golf balls from Debbie Page, use of the Fountain Springs Golf Course as a practice and match location, and time on the newSimGolf simulator in Peterstown. Sports of Monroe graciously donated funds for pull carts.
