James Myles White

White Sulphur Springs-James Myles White, 88, died Friday, May 15, 2015, at the Peyton Place Hospice Facility in Fairlea.

Born Aug. 21, 1926, in Alleghany County, VA, he was a son of the late Burtia Edgar and Clara Thelma McDowell White.

He was of the Pentecostal faith. James was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He worked as a logger.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Burtia Edgar White, Jr. and William “Billy” White; and sister, Marie Owens.

Survivors include: his wife, Betty Ann McGraw White at home; sons, Rodney White of White Sulphur Springs, Darcy White of Maxwelton and Mike White of Glace; three daughters, Elizabeth Yonkey of Killeen, TX, Daphne Davis of Gainsville, GA and Sarah Madsen of Kadoka, SD; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mattie White of South Hill, VA, and Pearl Irene Honaker and Mildred Mines both of White Sulphur Springs.

Graveside services were conducted Sunday, May 17, in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg, where Rev. Ralph Hubbard officiated.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Peyton Place Hospice Facility, 1265 Maplewood Avenue, Lewisburg, WV 24901.

Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, is serving the family.
