James C. Ray, 74, of Arbovale, died peacefully at home on Mar. 11, 2026, after a short illness, under the care of Mountain Hospice.

James was born on May 1, 1951 at Friars Hill.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Hilda Snedegar Ray.

He is survived by wife, Kathy Steele Ray of Arbovale; children, Jason Ray also of Arbovale, and daughter, Karen Ray Boyer (Robert) of Durbin; grandchildren Madeline Ray and Brayden Ray of Arbovale; sisters, Peggy Wilfong (Guy) of Lansing, MI, Brinda Renick (Milton) of Maxwelton; Judy Burns (Lonnie) of Frankford; brother, Ronald Ray (Janet) of Friars Hill. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be Saturday, Mar. 14, from 1 until 2 p.m. at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 2:30 p.m. at the Arbovale Cemetery Annex with Pastor Any Paul officiating.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Mountain Hospice, 228 4th Street, Elkins, WV 26241.
