Earlier this month, Congress and the President approved legislation to extend the IRA Charitable Rollover. This measure allows individuals aged 70-1/2 or older to make charitable contributions of up to $100,000 directly from Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) without treating the distribution as taxable income. The IRA Charitable Rollover expires once again on Dec. 31, 2014, but you can take steps now to take advantage of these tax benefits.

Donating to Greenbrier Valley Theatre from your IRA during this window is an easy and convenient way to make a charitable contribution and counts toward your required annual minimum distribution. Plus, the gift would be excluded from your gross income – tax-free rollover!

How to qualify for benefits under the extension:

• You must be 70-1/2 or older when you make your gift.

• Funds must be transferred directly from your IRA to Greenbrier Valley Theatre.

• The total amount of your IRA gift must not exceed $100,000.

If you would like to make a charitable contribution to Greenbrier Valley Theatre to qualify for the benefits under the IRA Charitable Rollover extension, contact your IRA plan administrator before the end of the year. They will ensure that the necessary paperwork is completed to transfer your gift to Greenbrier Valley Theatre by the end of the year.

We greatly appreciate your support of our mission to produce live, professional theatre in southern West Virginia and through theatre, to enlighten, enrich and enliven the life our region!

If you have any questions, please contact Micah Labishak, development manager, at 304-645-3838 ext. 110 or micah@gvtheatre.org. Please note that our offices will be closed Dec. 23-28. Micah will be in contact with you on Monday, Dec. 29 if you leave a message during that time.

Thank you for including Greenbrier Valley Theatre in your year-end giving and for supporting us throughout the year in so many ways.
