The Richlands Ruritan club met on Aug. 10 at the Calvary Methodist Church. The meeting was attended by 20 members. The guest speakers for the meeting were Dylan Boone and Ty Donovan from Farm Family Insurance Agency in Lewisburg. The Farm Family agency provides a full range of insurance products for farms, farm families and businesses.
The evening’s presentation was an overview of insurance products and how to determine the best type of insurance to serve your needs. Boone and Donovan explained the various needs for insurance and how insurance can protect against catastrophic events such as fire, premature death, disability and flood. Insurance can also be used to protect businesses and to provide protection for estates. Individual Retirement Accounts can be used to augment insurance protection.
In the business meeting, District Lieutenant Governor Larry Bowman updated the Richlands Ruritans on the activities and needs of neighboring Ruritan clubs.
Plans were made for a dedication ceremony for the new flag pole and commemorative plaque placed at the Calvary Methodist Church.
The Richlands Ruritan club meets on the second Wednesday of each month for a dinner meeting at the Calvary Methodist Church on Route 60W.
The Ruritan Civic organization is a national network of clubs working together for a stronger America. The Ruritan focus is to support community services in small towns and rural communities across America. The Ruritans were founded in 1928 in Holland, VA, and celebrated their 88th year this past May. The Richlands Ruritan Club provides scholarships to local college students and 4-H campers, and maintains Tuckwiller Park.
