A new career program designed to train employees for hotel, restaurant and facilities management, part of the “Plugged In Virginia” initiative, is being offered at the Dabney S. Lancaster Community College Rockbridge Regional Center in Buena Vista this fall. The short-term program is scheduled to begin Nov. 10.
The program offers training in college and career readiness as well as computer and professional skills. Participants will have opportunities for paid internships and employment with local employers. Participants may earn the Career Readiness Certificate, as well as a Career Studies Certificate through DSLCC. The program also serves as a bridge into additional college credentials offered by DSLCC.
Classes will be held four days a week at the DSLCC Rockbridge Regional Center and students may be eligible for tuition assistance as support services through the College.
Anyone interested in learning more may attend one of two information sessions: Monday, Nov. 3, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the DSLCC Rockbridge Regional Center, 35 Vista Links Drive, Buena Vista, or Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 1 to 3 p.m., in Room 513, McCarthy Hall, on the DSLCC main campus in Clifton Forge.
The program is co-sponsored by DSLCC, Goodwill Industries of the Valleys, Valley Workforce and the Shenandoah Initiative for Adult Education. Call 540-463-7386 for more information.
