Members of the Summers County Democratic Executive Committee will host a banquet Saturday, Apr. 9, at the McCreery Conference and Event Center, 320 2nd Avenue, Hinton, from 5 to 8 p.m. The event will honor retiring Senator William Laird IV, who has represented District 10 in the WV State Senate since 2008.

Local and state Democratic candidates have been invited, and the public is welcome to attend this special event.

Registration begins at 5 p.m. and candidates will have an opportunity to speak briefly before dinner, which will be catered by the Market at Courthouse Square. Dinner will be followed by a ceremony honoring Senator Laird, whose commitment to public service is greatly appreciated. He will be sorely missed.

Keynote speaker for the evening will be Christopher Regan, Vice-Chair of the West Virginia Democratic Party. Regan was chosen to help lead the party in February, 2015, and has been a vocal champion for Democratic principles and ideals. We are excited to introduce him to southern West Virginia voters.

The committee also will conduct a silent auction as part of the evening’s festivities.

Tickets for the event are just $20 and will help raise funds to support Democratic candidates in this year’s important general election. To reserve your seat, donate an item for the auction, or purchase an ad in the commemorative program book, call 304-466-1515 or 304-660-7073.
