The Greenbrier Historical Society’s biennial Tour of Homes and Gardens is nearly here. It will be held on June 12, 13 and 14, and feature a Gala at Swift Level farm on Friday evening, June 12; the traditional tour of six lovely homes on Saturday, June 13; and a wonderful afternoon of events, including a concert by Ethel Caffie-Austin, in Rainelle on Sunday, June 14. Tickets for the Gala at Swift Level and lunch at Rainelle must be purchased by Monday, June 8. The others may be purchased at the door.

“This event has something for everyone,” said Margaret Hambrick, board president for GHS. “It has pasture tours of a working farm, and two houses set in some of the most beautiful farmland in Greenbrier County. The other houses include the oldest house in Lewisburg; a fantastic clock collection, a manse from the 1700’s; and a house ready for someone to restore. On Sunday, there is a great lunch, tour of a historic church, and gospel concert by Ethel Caffie-Austin. From the latest in farming techniques to an immersion in the history of our area to marvelous music, it will be a fantastic weekend.”

Sponsors for the full weekend of Home Tour events include: Swift Level, Bella, the Corner Gourmet; Edith’s Store, Watt’s Roost Winery, The Bakery, B Sweet Confectionary, The General Lewis Inn, Food & Friends, The 19th Hole/TLP, The Greenbrier Valley Baking Company, The Greenbrier Sporting Club, The Dutch Haus, Fruits of Labor, The Country Vintner, The Greenbrier Valley Brewing Company, The American Beer Company, Stella’s, The Wild Bean, Security Unlimited Access Control, Ronceverte Feed Store, Farmer’s Home Fire Insurance Company and more.

For more information, please call the Greenbrier Historical Society at 304-645-3398. Tickets, available at the North House Museum and the Greenbrier Convention and Visitors Bureau, are $50 for the gala on Friday evening, $30 for the Homes Tour on Saturday, and $10 for the church tour and concert on Sunday afternoon. A combination ticket can be purchased for $80 before June 8. The lunch at the church is a separately ticketed event and tickets are available for $10. Both the gala and church lunch tickets must be purchased in advance and by Monday, June 8. Saturday Home Tour tickets and Sunday Church Tour and Concert tickets may be purchased at the door.
