Hermond W. Lilly

Lewisburg-Hermond W. Lilly, 84, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.

Born Dec. 31, 1929, in Lewisburg, he was the son of the late Raymond and Artie Lilly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Armour Lilly and sisters, Elva Woolard and Glena Gunn.

Mr. Lilly was retired from Bill Lewis Motors after 30 years service in the detail shop. He was a Korean War Veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart, Korean Service Bronze, United Nations Service and National Defense medals. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans since 1977 and the American Legion and the Senior Circle at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.

Hermond is survived by: his wife of 62 years, Madeline Loudermilk Lilly; nieces, Catherine Sears of Lewisburg and Judy Stuart of Virginia; nephews, Frank Woolard of Lewisburg, and Nicholas, William and Timothy Gunn of California; and good friend and cousin, Linda Stidom and husband, Dale.

A graveside service and burial with military honors was held on Sunday, July 27, at Greenbrier Memorial Gardens in Lewisburg where Pastor Robert O. Hefner, Jr. officiated.
