The Ladies of the Henning Church of God held their regular monthly meeting Tuesday, Sept. 12 in the church fellowship hall. Carole Spencer presided, and Donna Scott led in prayer.

Joan Vance presented the devotion, “Lessons from a Bear.” The first lesson is to enjoy the outdoors. Go outside to experience God’s creation, see the uniqueness of flowers and plants. Breathe in the fresh air. The second lesson is to love your honey. Whoever your honey is such as spouse, friend, family member, and church family, make sure to show love daily. The third lesson is give bear hugs. Actually, give a hug or show love by sending a card or making a phone call. The fourth lesson is to take time to hibernate. Everyone needs to rest daily we need to follow God’s example and obey the sabbath. We also need to rest in body and spirit. The fifth lesson is to stay wild. Keep busy, be happy, enjoy life and find things to laugh at. The sixth lesson is to protect your cubs. Keep those near you safe like a mother bear sends her cubs up a tree. God is our help in times of trouble. The seventh lesson is to leave your print on the world. Have a positive outlook on life and leave a positive print on the world. The eighth lesson is: don’t let anything stand in your way. Go around or over in whatever you are doing as long a God leads you.

Kim Brookman, missionary education leader, shared about our financial donation to the Children’s Home Society in Rupert. The facility is going to use the money to take the children clothes shopping. We also donated towels and wash clothes. She also showed a video of missionaries Mark and Kathy Fulton in Haiti and the hospital they help run. She told us about Tim and Jenn Adams who work with Global Strategy in the Church of God ministries and Canadian ministries located in Southeast Asia. They are based in Thailand and help with the ministries in ten countries in Southeast Asia. They have four children, and both came from faith-filled families. Tim concentrates on teaching and Jenn is involved in administration.

Jamie Harvey gave the treasurer’s report and Pauline Perkins read last month’s minutes.

Carole thanked members for their hard work on the yard sale. It was a huge success thanks to all of our customers and contributors. The group will be serving the Maxwelton Ruritans on September 28. The group discussed how to honor our Pastor and family during October because it is Pastor Appreciation Month. The group discussed making apple sauce cakes and loafs as a future project. It will be decided the next meeting.

The next meeting will be held Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. Kim Brookman dismissed in prayer.

Attending were: Alice Coff, Carole Spencer, Cindy Fleshman, Donna Scott, Dyan Hefner, Jamie Harvey, Joan Vance, Kim Brookman, Marty Burns, Pauline Perkins, Patty Owens, Peggy Seldomridge, Sue Hunt, and Susan Norris.
